Who Are We?
Founded in 2012
The Tallahassee African American Local Election Review Team (Tallahassee A.L.E.R.T) was founded in 2012 by a small group of voters working together in a member's home to learn more about candidates for local office. Over the years the organization has grown to include nearly 100 members who together exert significant influence over local political discourse.

The purpose of Tallahassee A.L.E.R.T is to politically empower African American communities by facilitating their informed and organized involvement in local government.

This is done through:

-
Candidate and Public Official Engagement - We host Candidate Forums, Interviews, and conduct research on the potential impact of proposed public policies on the Black Community. We also routinely engage with public officials on behalf of the African American community.
-
Policy Research and Analysis - We will work with researchers to identify the impacts of proposed public policy on our communities.
-
Voter Education - We provide civic education at no cost to the African American community to keep our people informed of which public officials and agencies have made or not made decisions that are responsible for the situations faced by Black/African American neighborhoods.
-
Collaborative Endorsements - We build community consensus around candidates or policies and facilitate collective support only of those candidates or policies that are aligned with the values of Tallahassee's Black/African American community.
